Country: Burundi

Tasting notes: white strawberry, Brookside candy, sweet almond (amaretti style), cherry.

The first impression is soft and fruity, immediately enveloping. White strawberry opens the cup with a delicate clarity. The overall profile remains bright, with a lingering sweetness.

This coffee is a natural Bourbon produced in Moyinga. It is part of a selection and production effort highlighting coffees from Burundi, through a partnership with JNP, a company committed to the production, support, and export of Burundian coffee, largely led by women.

The natural process allows a strong expression of fruit and texture. A gentle fermentation can be read in the cup, enhancing notes of cherry and red fruits without making the structure heavy or harsh.

The name BUBA is linked to an idea of light but persistent transformation. Like a “lovebug”: something that settles in, subtly shifts your internal state, and keeps working on you afterward. With spring, this idea of awakening, movement, and transition becomes central—what was dormant returns, sometimes almost imperceptibly, but irreversibly.

In pour-over, it is juicy and delicate. In espresso, it becomes rounder and more intense. With milk, it turns softer, almost confectionery.

We have been bitten.
